Shathi Sarker overcame Victory Day Tennis title holder Ishita Afroze 6-3, 3-6, 6-3 in a three-and-a-half-hour semi-final battle to confirm her place in the final of the Sony National Tennis Championship at the Ramna Tennis Complex on Wednesday.
In the men’s singles, Amol Roy beat sensational youngster Delwar Hossain 6-3, 6-2, Alamgir Hossain outplayed Dipu Lal 7-5, 6-4, Lakshman Lal edged Munir Hossain 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 and Ranjan Ram overpowered Anwar Hossain 6-1, 3-6, 6-2 to advance to the semi-finals. Meanwhile, Biplob Ram, Jamil Bhuiyan and Wai Mong Marma won their respective Under-16 boys’ singles quarter-final matches. Rustam is the other player to advance to the semi-finals of the event earlier.
