The nature with its beauty and grandeur has been captured by Mohammad Nazmul Haque Bappy in his paintings currently
displayed at Gallery Chitrak at Dhanmondi.
The artist has used oriental art style for his 50 exhibited paintings, most of which depict soothing natural scenes and flowers. A few reveal beauty of women, the great wall in China and Buddhist pagodas.
Oriental art originated in China and was later introduced in India by the mughals. A very colorfully decorative art form, oriental art has mainly been used to portray human figures and lifestyles. However, the artist has chosen to emphasise nature in various mediums while keeping in line with the particular art style.
The artist’s talent in using precise strokes is evident in the painting titled Quest for the Heritage, in which, he has skillfully portrayed the terracotta murals typical on the wall of an ancient Hindu temple. Royal guards with horses and elephants, boats on imperial voyage, deities and intricate designs can be seen aesthetically embedded on the canvas.
A pair of pigeon enjoying each other’s company on a branch of tree has been portrayed by the artist in his acrylic on canvas titled Couple. The flamboyant birds against a vibrant milieu of blue and green become a feast for the eyes.
Fallen Leaves is another vivid painting done in water colour. The painting reveals leaves of various colours in a falling motion.
A beautiful girl arranging her hair has been painted by Bappy in water colour in Woman-22. The doe-eyed girl with an upright nose and thin lips catches the eyes of the spectators.
The Silence, which is an acrylic on canvas, depicts two boats close to a sea shore and another tiny one in the distant water. The shore is dexterously blended with the blue of the water which meets with the horizon of the limitless sky creating a splendid view.
A sturdy white horse in running motion has been painted in acrylic on canvas. The vigour and energy radiating from the stretched muscles of the animal in the painting titled The Horse with a bluish background reveals Bappy’s capacity of demonstrating living beings with a realistic touch.
