Decides to raise number of booths for e-TIN
Tax officials on Thursday continued to struggle in providing smooth services to taxpayers at the nationwide income tax fairs mainly due to inadequate service booths against the huge rush.
Burdened with the pressure of growing service seekers at the Officers’ Club in Dhaka, the fair venue for the capital, the taxmen were forced to stop receiving applications for online generated taxpayers’ identification number (e-TIN) from people at most of the booths after 3pm.
In this situation, the National Board of Revenue decided to increase the number of booths for e-TIN to 64 from existing 44 at Officers’ Club venue.
Rahima Khatun, a taxpayer from Gulshan area in the city, said that she tried to submit e-TIN application at 3.30pm but the taxmen working at the booths refused to accept it.
‘They asked me to come again on Friday,’ she said.
