International Hockey Federation president Leandro Negre will launch the National School Hockey Championship, set to begin from February.
This will be Negre’s second visit to Bangladesh in a year and the FIH president is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on January 31 before announcing the school championship open a day later.
After FIFA president Joao Havelange officially opened the Pioneer Football League in 1985, this is the second time that the president of an international sports body will inaugurate a domestic tournament.
The Bangladesh Hockey Federation will hand out sports equipments among the schools of the Dhaka division for the training purpose of the participants taking part in the championship.
