New Age started their Frooto BSJA Media Cup Cricket 2013 campaign with a crushing five-wicket defeat to Kaler Kontha at the Maulana Bhasani Hockey stadium on Tuesday.
Batting first, New Age scored 54-2 in the allotted 6 overs, with 18 runs from top-scorer Zakaria and 15 from Rashad Banna. Needing 55 to win, Kaler Kontha blasted their way to 56-0 in just 2.2 overs.
Naved of Kaler Kontha was adjudged man of the match after guiding his team to the finish with an unbeaten 22.
In the other five matches of the day, ATN News (35-0) defeated Noya Diganta (34-5) by five wickets, Manabjamin (98-1) prevailed over Channel 71 (94-3) by four wickets, Prothom Alo (118-2) demolished New Nation (60-5) by 58 runs, Channel I (88-3) beat BSS (60-5) by 28 runs and Channel 24 (105-2) had the last laugh on Alokito Bangladesh (80-4) by 25 runs.
