Eminent poet Nirmalendu Goon’s popular poems were presented at a recitation programme at the Experimental Theatre hall of
Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Sunday.
Recitation organisation Sangbrita Abritty Charcha O Bikash Kendra organsied the programme titled Agnidadhho Nakshikantha where the artistes of the organisation recited the poet’s 26 poems.
The production, containing parts of the poems, has been compiled jointly by Jalaluddin Hira and Arun Arif, and was directed by Kazi Rajesh.
Poems featuring different issues were presented at the programme since it was organised with the aim to address the fall of humanity in the society, oppression and distortion of nature in the name of ‘development’.
The show began with a group recitation of the poem Unnoto Haat that earned huge response from the audience for the provoking message powerfully conveyed by the performers.
In solo performances, Shariful Islam recited Bijoyer Gaan while Lily presented Rabindranather Banshi in their stentorian voice. Jalaluddin Hira and Andalib Nagma Kastori presented the struggle of the farmers through the duet presentation of Khetmajurer Kabya.
The other poems that were presented included Matribhumir Samasta Matikey, Jagannath Hall: March 27 1971, Hatobhaga Ei Deshe, Samadhan Jokhon Astro Dabi Korey, Mukhomukhi, Amra Rajpothe Keno, Upadansha, Kampuchiyar Baddabhumite Dariye, Amra Jabona, Na Raja Na Rajjyo, Preliterate, Biswasher Agun, Hulia, Sassho Folbey, Prithibijora Jaan, Vietnam 1082, Mukta Palestine, Biplob, Ami Kemon Korey Ghumai, Niranjaner Prithibi, Phirey Esho Niranjan and Amar Chokher Jaggo Ekti Sundor Prithibi Chai.
About the programme, general secretary of Sangbrita Abritty Charcha O Bikash Kendra Jalaluddin Hira informed New Age that the poems of Nirmalendu Goon very touchingly and it convincingly portrays human suffering and oppressions.
