The 16th convocation of the North South University was held on Tuesday at
the convocation plaza of the NSU campus in the city.
The education minister, Nurul Islam Nahid, was present as chief
guest and conferred degrees on 1,928 students.High commissioner of Canada to Bangladesh Heather Cruden was present as the convocation speaker.
Professor Amin U Sarkar, vice-chancellor of North South University, MA Hashem, chairman of the board of trustees of North South University Trust, members of the trust and deans of four schools were present in the programme.
In the programme, gold medals were awarded in two categories — the chancellor’s and the vice-chancellor’s.
The valedictorian from the undergraduate programmes and the recipient of the highest GPA from the graduate programmes received the chancellor’s gold medal.
This year out of 1,928 students were awarded — 1383 undergraduate and 545 graduate degree students.
