The district administration has issued a public notice in regard to incorporating three more municipalities in the Narayanganj City Corporation. There will be a 30 days’ probation for the inhabitants to submit any objection against this public notice issued on Thursday.
After 30 days from the day of public notice announcement, the decision will be finalised after mass hearing on objection or consent.
The notice sought to incorporate three unions — Kashipur, Enayetnagar and Gognagar under Fatulla thana — in the city corporation.
Narayanganj deputy commissioner Monoj Kanti Boral mentioned that the public notice was announced on the direction from the ministry of local government and rural development and co-operatives.
The existing Narayanganj City Corporation is now comprised of Narayanganj municipality, Bandar municipality and Shiddhirganj municipality.
Jurisdiction of the city corporation will be increased, revenue collection will go up and city dwellers will get more civic facilities, said Abdur Rahman, a Kashipur union parishad inhabitant.
Meanwhile, most of the residents of the four unions want that either they be incorporated in the Narayanganj City Corporation as they have been enjoying civic amenities like developed zone or be considered as municipality dwellers.
The four unions had already been declared to be merged with the city corporation but it could not be implemented as the chairmen of those unions campaigned negatively against the inclusion and had filed case with the court against the government move.
