North South University (NSU) has been ranked 149th in the QS Asia University Rankings 2026, published on 4 November 2025, says a press release.
With this achievement, NSU has retained its position as the top private university in Bangladesh and the second-best overall among both public and private institutions.
This year’s rankings assessed a record 1,526 universities from 25 Asian countries, including 46 from Bangladesh. NSU’s advancement from 155th last year to 149th marks its first-ever entry into the Top 150 in Asia—reflecting the university’s continued focus on academic excellence, research, and innovation.
In the regional QS World University Rankings: Southern Asia, NSU has been placed 18th, just behind the University of Dhaka, which ranked 17th.
NSU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Abdul Hannan Chowdhury described the achievement as “a testament to the collective effort of students, faculty, staff, and alumni.” He expressed satisfaction at the rising presence of Bangladeshi universities in the QS rankings, calling it a positive sign for the country’s higher education landscape. – Press release
