North South University retained the title of the Mentors’ Inter-Private University football with a 4-0 thrashing of Independent University in the final at the Kamalapur stadium on Saturday.
Ridoy scored a brace while Birol and Shawon scored one goal apiece for the winners.
Independent University had a bright start with their playmaker Hameem creating havoc on the opponent defence and he was unfortunate in the 15th minute when his glancing header hit the side post.
North South, however, regrouped and Birol, the son of former national
coach Golam Sarwar Tipu, put his team ahead in the 22nd minute after Nafees paved the way for him. Shawon doubled the lead in the 38th minute and a demoralised Independent University conceded another two in the 42nd and 52nd minutes with Ridoy scoring both the goals.
Khairul Ahsan, the CEO of Mentors’ Education, distributed the prizes among the winners as the chief guest. Zakaria Khan, marketing manager of TVS Autos, Mahfuza Akhter Kiorn, deputy chairman of BFF women’s wing, and Auritro CEO Toufiquzzaman Chowdhury Rony were present at the prize distribution ceremony.
