Government on Tuesday inaugurated the Nuclear Industry Information Centre at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Novotheatre in Dhaka to disseminate general knowledge about nuclear energy for the public domain. State Minister for Science and Technology Yefesh Osman, Director General of Russian State Corporation, ROSATOM , Sergey Kirienko jointly opened the information centre while ambassador of Russian Federation to Bangladesh Alexander Nikolaev, representatives of concerned Russian Enterprises, nuclear innovation consortium of Russia, senior officials from ROSATOM and the government, academicians and students were present.
“I can only say that we are going to install the best technology here as far as safety and security is concerned, however, “safety is the first and safety is the last” that’s all,” State minister for science and technology Dr Yafes Osman said.
He informed that the government has set up a nuclear council at Bangabandhu Navotheater center to answer all queries of the people.
The information centre will have a modern high-tech cinema hall with panoramic 3D projection, computer graphics and animation, stereo sound, interactive consoles and personal monitor facilities.
The main educational programme ‘Journey to the World of Nuclear Energy’ will be presented at the information centre in Bangla, Russian and English. Six other educational programmes on astronomy, natural science and regional geography will be available for visitors.
The state minister urged the media to publish objective and authentic report on the nuclear power project as it is highly-sensitive.
