Leg-spinner Nur Hossain is set to replace Sakib al Hasan in the Bangladesh team for the BCB Cup, chief selector Akram Khan said on Tuesday.
While Nur is certainly not Sakib’s natural successor in the national team, but bearing in mind the threat posed by West Indies leg-spinner Devendra Bishoo, his inclusion in the side could aid the batsmen’s preparation against leg-spin, according to Akram.
‘He hardly has any chance of playing but we included him as West Indies have Bishoo in their line-up. We need to give our batsman a chance to cope with his bowling,’ said Akram.
Bishoo, who surprisingly won the ICC emerging player of the year award on Monday, gave Indian batsman a torrid time in their recent Test series at home.
