The students of Barisal Nursing College at Sher-e-Bangla Medical College and Hospital held demonstrations on Wednesday to press home their three-point demand.
The demands are introduction of a one-year internship after the completion of four-year BSC in nursing course, fixing the stipend at Tk 3,000 for each student and allowing students to wear aprons on top of their uniforms during clinical practices.
They boycotted all academic activities and held the demonstration from 9:00am to 1:00pm.
The rally was addressed by Ziaur Rahman, Rowshanara Khanam, Sima Haldar, Mahmud Hasan, Dipayan Sangma, Sohel Mia, Kaniz Fatema, Mitu Ahmed and Parvez Kabir.
The speakers said they would continue their demonstration until all their demands were met.
Nursing students are not allowed wearing apron on their uniform and per head Tk 850 is given as monthly stipend with a yearly raise of Tk 50 during their 48-month course without internship.
