Two unbeaten half centuries by Javed Omar and Nasir Jamshed gave Old DOHS a 10-wicket win over Surjo Tarun in the eighth round of the Dhaka Premier League at Fatullah on Tuesday.
Nazmul Hossain’s blistering half century helped CCS beat Prime Doleshwar by 20 runs at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium and Gazi Tanks recorded a six-wicket win over BKSP in the other match of the day in BKSP.
Old DOHS v Surjo Tarun
A brilliant bowling display by Farhad Reza, who conceded only 15 runs in his 10 overs to claim four wickets, restricted Surjo Tarun to a miserable 152-9 in 50 overs after they were sent into bat first.
Old DOHS never looked back when they started their run chase with both of their openers scoring unbeaten half centuries completing the win in less than 21 overs.
Pakistani Nasir Jamshed took the role of the
aggressor and started to tear the bowlers of Surjo Tarun apart on his way to 80 off 59 balls which included seven fours and five sixes.
Former national opener Javed was comparatively sedate making 55 off 62 balls as DOHS raced to 155-0 in 20.1 overs.
Prime Doleshwar v CCS
Nazmul’s blazing unbeaten 74 off 42 balls led CCS to pile up a respectful 263 runs against Prime Doleshwar in stipulated 48 overs. The platform
was set for Nazmul in the 90-run opening partnership in which opener Saikat Ali contributed with 50 off 67 balls and Amit Majumder added 47 off 58 balls.
Nadif Chowdhury played an innings of 85 runs off 105 balls to raise the prospect Doleshwar’s first ever win in the league but they fell agonisingly short having been restricted to 243-5.
Nadif put 90 runs in the fifth wicket stand with Sumon Kumar who made 35 off 62 balls, but it was too little for Prime.
Gazi Tanks v BKSP
In the other match of the day, Sanjamul Islam grabbed 4-20 to limit BKSP innings to a lowly 121 runs with Asif Ahmed making highest 44 off 61 balls for his team.
Gazi Tanks had an early scare as they lost three wickets for only 22 runs on the board. Skipper Naeem Islam steadied the innings with his unbeaten 56 off 103 balls, his second consecutive fifty, which was enough for them to seal the win. Alok Kapali, who shared an 80-run partnership for the fifth wicket with Naeem, was not out on 39.
