Internet service provider Ollo is running illegal business and tarnishing the image of legal Wimax operators, alleged Banglalion on Monday.
In a press release, the company said that some corrupt official of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission was planning to give Ollo the Wimax licence violating the standard procedure.
It said the government in 2008 had awarded four Wimax licences to Banglalion, Qubee, Bracnet and state-run BTCL with a set rollout plan to distribute the network coverage accordingly.
As the BTCL and Bracnet fail to come into operation, Banglalion and Qubee were given additional rollout obligation, said the release adding that Banglalion fulfilled its core rollout obligation duly.
‘The Ollo participated in the 2008 auction and came fifth. When Bracnet failed to come into operation Ollo was offered the licence for Tk 215 crore but the company refused to take the licence,’ it further added.
Banglalion also claimed that it was the third largest Wimax operator in the world after US company Clearwire and Japanese company UQ.
