Wireless internet service provider Ollo’s subscriber base has
recently reached 25,000, said Ollo officials on Saturday.
Ollo, a brand name used by Bangladesh Internet Exchange Limited and New Generation Graphic Limited, started its official journey in March 2012 providing internet service in some areas of Dhaka.
‘This is a beginning. We are very focused about our customers’ need and will develop in future to meet their demand,’ BIEL managing director Yulia Aksyutina said at a news conference at Westin Hotel in the capital on the day.
She said the BIEL had already applied for WiMax licence which will enhance the capacity of Ollo.
NGGL managing director Sergey Topalov said that Ollo had planned to expand its coverage in the rural areas of the country focusing on internet use in the education and health sector.
Replying to a query Yulia said Ollo was yet to get the regulatory approval for using the brand name and the logo. ‘The matter is pending with the authorities but both companies (NGGL and BIEL) have the regulatory permission for operation.’
