‘One falls victim every 4 days’
At least one person on an average becomes the victim of extra-judicial killing in every four days, a human rights watchdog reveals in a report.
Odhikar, the rights organisation, on Friday, disclosed the report prepared on the basis of news published in the country’s 12 dailies, says a press release.
At least 49 extra judicial killings took places in the last six months while at least 84 people died in custody.
Border Security Force of India allegedly killed at least 17 Bangladeshis while 49 were injured and five abducted.
During the last six months, at least 71 journalists were injured, 34 received threats and 19 assaulted.
A total of 297 women and girls were reportedly raped while 54 were killed afterwards. Furthermore four women and seven children allegedly committed suicide after being raped.
