It was one last hurrah for veteran shooter Sabrina Sultana before her retirement when she won the women’s 50-metre prone in the eighth Bangladesh Games on Wednesday.
Sabrina is expected to bring an end to her long career spanning over two decades as a shooter, though her husband Saiful Alam Rinky, himself a veteran shooter, said the decision is not hundred per cent confirmed.
‘She has played enough. Naturally it is time now to retire. But I cannot say exactly she will retire tomorrow (Thursday),’ said Rinky.
Sabrina was tied at 570 points with Umme Zakia Sultana and was awarded the gold in tie-breaking system. The bronze medal went to Sharmin Akter.
In the two other events held on the day, Mahendra Kumar Singh won gold medal in men’s 10-metre air pistol while Kaniz Chowdhury Sweety won gold in women’s 25-metre air pistol.
