A group of angry online clients deceived by an Internet base private company — Sky Lancer — vandalized its Kalabaghan office in the capital on Friday.
Police immediately arrested Khalilur Rahman Nil, 27, chairman of the company, but Saiful Islam, it managing director, however, managed to escape from the scene.
Enamul Haque, officer in-charge (OC) of Kalabaghan, said police forces are conducing drives to arrest the fraudster Saiful.
Sources said the representatives of the company allured its clients, most of whom are students, by introducing click and earn concept and payments would be given by dollar.
The company had asked to invest Tk 10,000-20,000 to be a member of the company.
After getting membership, the clients of the company clicked a particular server as suggested by its chairman.
Khalil suddenly blocked the server without paying the members. He promised to pay their money and asked them to click to a new server. Later, new server hung again by him to cheat the clients.
“The clients have repeatedly asked for their money back but they were shown reluctant to pay,” said Saiful, OC of Kalabaghan police station.
As the officials of the company assured them to return their money on Friday, the clients of the company assembled there and waited for long time. When the owners of Sky Lancer were delaying to refund their money they became agitated and vandalized the office, said the police officer.
