The tickets for the ICC World Cup 2011 opening ceremony will go on sale from February 10 at different branches of Dhaka Bank, Bangladesh Cricket Board president AHM Mustafa Kamal said on Sunday.
Around 10,000 tickets for the opening ceremony will be sold through the bank while the rest 15,000 will be distributed among the dignitaries as complimentary tickets.
‘There could be some plus or minus. Generally you can assume that around 10,000 tickets will be available at the Dhaka Bank’s booths,’ said GS Hasan Tamim, chaiman of the BCB’s ticket and seating committee.
The opening ceremony of the marquee event will be held at the Bangubundhu National Stadium on February 17.
Earlier, the City Bank and Agrani Bank sold the tickets for the warm-up and the World Cup matches amid lot of chaos and confusion. KyaZoonga, an Indian online ticketing company, controlled the system through specially designed software.
The BCB officials said KyaZoonga has nothing to do with the opening ceremony tickets and the responsibility lies totally with them. The tickets are being printed at renowned Maliplan Press in Bangalore, India.
The prices of tickets for the opening ceremony will be – gallery -Tk 1,000 each, international gallery – Tk 10,000, grand stand – Tk 20,000 while each chair of the hospitality box will cost Tk 35,000.
