Pearson and the British Council jointly hosted the 11th Outstanding Learner Awards 2024 to honour exceptional students in Bangladesh who excelled in their international GCSE and A-Level examinations in 2023 and 2024 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka on Friday.
The world’s leading learning company and the United Kingdom’s largest awarding body, the Pearson recognised 742 students for their remarkable achievements, said a press release.
Among them, 40 students earned the world highest and Asia highest certificates in various subjects, while 39 secured the highest marks in Bangladesh. The awardees
This year, included 461 international GCSE students and 202 international A-Level students.
Lisa Evans, Global Marketing director at Pearson UK, attended as chief guest and lauded the students’ exceptional accomplishments.
She remarked, ‘These awards celebrate the incredible potential of our learners, and we are proud to support their journey toward a bright future.’
Dan Pasha, director of Trade and Investment at the British High Commission Bangladesh, Premila Paulraj, director of Employability at Pearson, Stephen Forbes, country director for Bangladesh at the British Council, and Maxim Raimann, country exams director at the British Council Bangladesh, attended the event as special guests.
They emphasised the importance of global education in empowering future leaders and fostering innovation
Abdullah Al Mamun Liton, regional development manager of Pearson Bangladesh, and Jannatul Ferdous Sigma, also from Pearson Bangladesh, delivered encouraging remarks.
They highlighted how Pearson Edexcel qualifications open doors for Bangladeshi students to pursue higher education at top institutions worldwide, including BUET, Dhaka University, Oxford University, Harvard University, University of Toronto, and Brown University.
Bangladesh remains a significant hub for Pearson Edexcel qualifications, with a growing number of students achieving international recognition each year.
The British Council and Pearson both hope that events like this will keep inspiring students, parents, and schools to reach even greater success in the future.
