There are over 3.55 lakh posts vacant in public administration, State Minister for Public Administration Farhad Hossain told parliament today.
He said this in reply to a query of ruling Awami League MP Kazim Uddin Ahmed.
With Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair, the question-answer session was tabled.
The state minister said there are three lakh fifty-five thousand and 854 posts vacant in all the ministries/departments and field administration of the country.
According to the information of the state minister, there are 14 lakh 9 thousand and 606 approved posts in public administration.
At present recruitment process is going on to fill up the vacancies, he said.
Posts are usually left vacant due to regular retirement of employees and creation of new posts. In certain cases, immediate fill-up of different posts is not possible due to court orders, he said.
