Department of Livestock has estimated that a total of 65,39,308 cattle heads were slaughtered during last Eid-ul-Azha on October 16, showing more eight lakh cattle slaughtered than the last year. Livestock officials said the numbers of slaughtered cattle have been found higher as the countrymen bought more cattle for slaughtering ‘due to cheap price and good supply’ in the Eid markets.
The exact number of cattle slaughtered during Eid has been estimated after counting the cattle through deployment of the department’s field officials in all rural and urban areas, they said.
