Four bodies recovered
The bodies of four schoolgirls, who had drowned following a boat capsize in the River Padma at Pabna sadar upazila on Monday, were recovered on Tuesday.
Char Tarapur UP chairman Rahmat Ali confirmed the recovery of the four bodies on Tuesday afternoon.
UNO Salma Khatun said the divers of Rajshahi and Pabna fire fighters recovered the bodies 28 hours after the incident.
The victims were identified as Sharmin Akter, a
Class IV student and daughter of Abul Kashem, Dulu Khatun, a Class IV student and daughter of Tajir Uddin, Champa Khatun, daughter of Abdus Subhan, and Moyna Khatun, daughter of Ansar Ali of Bhaduriadangi village — both Class V students.
Five schoolgirls went missing after a boat capsized in the River Padma at Kolchuri in sadar upazila Monday afternoon.
Among them, Rahima Khatun, daughter of Abdur Rahman, could not be traced till Tuesday evening.
The boat carrying 30/32 students of Bhaduriadangi Government Primary School in the upazila sank due to gusty wind around 12:30pm on Monday while they were going to Kolchuri Government Primary School for withdrawing the stipend money.
