An exploration of art in different mediums and colours can be enjoyed at a solo painting exhibition of the artist Mastapha Khalid Palash taking place at the Athena Gallery of Fine Arts at Badda in the capital.
The artist has projected his passion through different modes and mediums like pen, marker, pastel, oil and acrylic used on felt,
paper as well as on canvas. The artist’s attempt has paid off as he has demonstrates his ability in dealing with vibrant colours in his paintings. With the juxtaposition of colours along with meticulous brush strokes, Palash is able to create a unique enigma in his paintings that fascinated the visitors.
The composition, necessarily, is abstract in nature except some semi-abstract and figurative compositions in certain paintings. The artist being an architect by profession has worked with a number of geometrical figures like lines, squares and circles.
In one of the painting titled Kaleidoscope, an oil and acrylic painting on canvas, the artist has demonstrated a whirlpool of waves of colours of green, red, blue, black and orange circulating towards a single black point. The same notion of whirlpool has been portrayed in Black Hole, a pen on paper artwork.
The artist has used simple marker pen to depict trees in a green forest in the painting titled Forest. Three bulls with long pointed horns in aggressive stance can be seen in semi-abstract painting titled Three Buffalos. The artist has revealed his passion for poet Rabindranath Tagore in his series My Rabindranath, which consists of four sketches of the poet created with pen on paper.
Inaugurated on September 13, the exhibition will remain open for everybody from 10:00am to 8:00pm till September 26.
