Discussants have said that children should be encouraged to pursue dance so that they can grow up healthy individuals.
The made the remarks while speaking at a programme organised by dance organisation Nrittangan at the auditorium of National Music and Dance Centre of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy on Wednesday.
The organisation arranged the programme as part of its national dance competition for children, which was organised marking the 52nd founding anniversary of the country.
The programme featured dance recitals by children, discussion and awards ceremony.
Director of Bangladesh Shishu Academy Anzir Liton, Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education director Professor Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury, renowned dancer and composer Munmun Ahmed, dancer and composer M R Wasek spoke at the event and handed over crests to the winners while general secretary of Nrittangan Atiqur Rahman Uzzal delivered the welcome speech and president of Nrittangan Bipul Chandra Biswash presided over the awards ceremony.
‘Children can grow up as healthy and intelligent individuals if they pursue dance. Therefore, parents should encourage children to learn dance from a young age,’ said Munmun Ahmed.
‘At least one million students are learning dance in Bangladesh. I urge parents to encourage children to pursue dance so that they can grow up as healthy individuals,’ said M R Wasek.
‘Dancers are playing a role in promoting culture of Bangladesh in the global arena. I thank parents for allowing their children to participate in cultural activities,’ said Professor Md Shahedul Khabir Chowdhury.
‘Parents should encourage boys to pursue dance because once boys performed as girls on stage,’ said Anzir Liton.
A total of 950 child dancers from 64 districts of the country participated in the event.
Nrittangan distributed awards in 12 categories among 83 winners at the programme.
