Partex SC earned an exciting two-wicket victory over Old DOHS SC in the Metropolis Premier Division Cricket League at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Friday.
In the day’s other matches, Cricket Coaching School (CCS) recorded a comfortable 85-run win over Victoria SC at the Narayanganj Osmani Stadium in Fatullah while Young Pegasus Club beat all losers City Club by huge 74 runs at the BKSP ground in Savar.
Sent in to bat first at the Mirpur Stadium, Old DOHS SC were all out for 220 in 49.2 overs with skipper Mehrab Hossain making team highest 42 runs.
Mohammad Azim grabbed three wickets for 36 runs while Pakistani Rashid Hanif took two wickets for 24 runs. In reply, Partex SC, riding on two half centuries by captain Mushfiqur Rahim and Tariq Ahmed Ruben, scored match-winning 22 runs for 8 in 49.2 overs.
After the departure of four top batsmen for just 20 runs, national wicket keeper Mushfiqur Rahim played an anchor role for his team’s victory, making two good partnerships.
Pairing with Rashed Hanif, he scored 41 runs in the 5th wicket stand and again contributed a 131-run partnership with Tariq Ahmed Ruben in the 6th wicket stand.
Number five batsman Mushfiqur Rahim made 78 runs off 96 deliveries hitting eight fours while number seven batsman Tariq Ahmed Ruben scored an unbeaten 77 off 127 balls featuring four fours and two sixes.
Later, both of them were jointly adjudged man of the match.
Abul Hasan Raju claimed three wickets for 43 runs while Monir Hossain took two for 55 runs. At BKSP, Young Pegasus Club batted first after winning the toss and scored 251 runs for 8 in 50 overs featuring three half centuries. Opener Jupiter Ghosh scored 66 runs off 96 balls with four fours and one six, middle-order Humayan Kabir made not out 60 off 65 deliveries also with four fours and one six while another opener Faisal Javed Khan scored 57 off 65 balls featuring 10 boundaries for Young Pegasus.
In reply, City Club were dismissed for 177 runs in 40.4 overs with opener Mashequr Rahman making 50 runs off 62 balls with two fours and two sixes.
Ruhul Amin and Riazul Karim picked up three wickets each conceding 12 and 36 runs respectively.
