Celebrated filmmaker of the country Mostafa Sarwar Farooki’s recent film Piprabidya (The Ant Story) has been selected to be screened at the competition section of Sanghai Film Festival, one of the oldest film festivals.
The festival is scheduled to begin on June 14 and end on June 22.
Piprabidya is about an unemployed fantasist who blackmails a famous actress after he buys her stolen cell phone. The film had earlier been screened at Dubai International Film Festival.
Noor Imran, Mukit Zakaria, Sabbir Likhon, Mohini Mou and Indian model-actress Sheena Chauhan have performed different characters in Pipra Bidya, produced by Impress Telefilm.
Director Mostafa Sarwar Farooki and Faridur Reza Sagar, managing director of Impress Telefilm, and actress Sheena Chauhan will attend the festival.
A total of 11 films from different countries will compete for the Golden Doblet award in the competition section. Besides Piprabidya, other films in the section are- John Carney’s Begin Again (USA), Volker Schlöndorff’s Diplomacy (France/Germany), Tom Waller’s The Last Executioner (Thailand), Pantelis Voulgaris’ Little England (Greece), Suo Masayuki’s Lady Maiko (Japan), Michael Spierig and Peter Spierig’s Predestination (Australia), Jeanne Herry’s She Adores Him (France), Mehdi Rahmani’s Snow (Iran), Zhang Meng’s Uncle Victory (China) and Marko Nabersnik’s The Woods are Still Green (Austria/Slovenia).
