Students and teachers of polytechnic institutes across the country on Saturday declared to boycott their final examinations of the 2nd,4th, 6th and 8th semesters, demanding immediate change in the 2008 gazette that identifies diploma professionals as supervisors, not engineers, reports UNB. The declaration of the exam boycott came from the leaders of Bangladesh Karigari Chhatra Parishad (BAKCHAP) and Bangladesh Polytechnic Teachers Association (BPTA).
The students and teachers of all polytechnic institutions across the country also formed human chains on Saturday to press for their demand.
The two organisations vowed to continue their protests until the authorities fulfill their demand through the implementation of the prime minister’s direction and recommendations of the inter-ministerial committee formed by the present government in this regard.
Meanwhile, Bangladesh Diploma Engineering Peshajibi-Chhatra-Shikkak Sangram Parishad issued a statement in support of the exam boycott.
The Parishad also condemned attacks by outsiders on their today’s (Saturday’s) human chains in Bogra, Magura, Brahmanbaria and Sherpur districts.
