Women in both rural and urban areas of Nilphamari district are becoming self reliant as they have engaged themselves in different income generating activities to fight poverty. They have taken short and long term training from the Department of Youth Development and Women Affairs to get engaged in income generating activities. The women across of the district have been able to change their fate in the past few years by rearing livestock and poultry birds.
Besides a good number of women became solvent by cultivating vegetables on their homestead and some are engaged in needle works, sewing cloths, embroidery works and so on.
Some poor women are also engaged as housemaid and some are working in protecting newly-planted trees in the rural roadsides and so on.
