Century-old pottery market Laksmir Hat, held during Lakshmi Puja, began in the Hatkhola Hori Mandir premises in Barisal.
Lakshmi is the goddess of the Hindus for welfare, prosperity, fortune, beauty and grace and Lakshmi Puja, the worship of Goddess Lakshmi, would be held on Friday at the night of full moon in almost every houses of the Hindu community.
Straw-made images of Goddess Lakshmi, earthenware pots, traditional cosmetics such as alta and other decoration pieces have come from areas such as Kalaskati, Kumarkhali, Bakerganj, Char Aicha in Barisal and Failpara in Shariatpur to the three-day market.
