The president, Abdul Hamid, has laid emphasis on building hydro power generation cooperation with Bhutan for fulfilling increasing power demand of the country.
‘There are ample of scopes for increasing cooperation between Bhutan and Bangladesh in various sectors,’ he said while outgoing ambassador of Bhutan to Bangladesh Dasho Bap Kesang made his farewell call on him at Bangabhaban Thursday rnoon.
During the meeting, the president recalled Bhutanese support and cooperation during country’s Liberation War and described Bhutan as a friend in need.
‘It is always better to have good relations with neighbors and Bangladesh has good relations with Bhutan,’ he said.
Dasho Bap Kesang said Bhutan attached great importance to its relations with Bangladesh.
The ambassador apprised the President of ongoing electoral process of Bhutan.
Kesang said Bangladesh made significant progress in the last four years.
He also conveyed facilitation from Bhutaneseking to president Abdul Hamid for becoming the 20th president of Bangladesh.
Secretaries of the President Office and foreign secretary were present.
