The prices of edible oil, onion and garlic went up in the capital’s kitchen markets over the week ending Friday. Traders said that the refiners increased the prices of bottled soya bean oil and the prices of onion and garlic increased due to supply shortage as nationwide blocked disrupted supply chain.
The prices of bottled soya bean oil increased by Tk 5 a litre and it was selling at Tk 105 a one litre container at Tk 105 while a five-litre container was selling at Tk 515 in the city’s kitchen markets.
Unpacked soya bean oil was retailing at Tk 95-Tk 100 a litre while super plum oil was selling at Tk 74-Tk 76 a litre on Friday.
Price of onion increased by Tk 5 a kg and was selling at Tk 30-Tk 40 a kg while the imported item was retailing at Tk 40-Tk 45 a kg on the day.
The price of garlic increased by Tk 5-Tk 10 a kg and the imported variety was selling at Tk 100-Tk 110 a kg while the local item was retailing at Tk 90 a kg on Friday.
The prices of f rice remained high over the week.
The fine varieties of BR-28 rice were selling at Tk 43-Tk 46 a kg and the coarse varieties were selling at Tk 38-Tk 41 a kg on Friday.
The fine varieties of miniket rice were selling at Tk 48-Tk 52 a kg while the coarse varieties of miniket were retailing at Tk 46-Tk 48 a kg.
The fine varieties of najirshail were selling at Tk 55-Tk 58 a kg and the coarse varieties were retailing at Tk 44-Tk 50 a kg on the day.
The coarse varieties of rice were retailing at Tk 32-Tk 35 a kg over the week.
The prices of vegetables also remained high.
Cauliflower and cabbage were retailing at Tk 25 a piece and Tk 20 a piece respectively, aubergine was selling at Tk 30-Tk 50 a kg, tomato at Tk 40-Tk 50 a kg, cucumber at Tk 40 a kg, okra at Tk 110 a kg and bitter gourd at Tk 30 a kg on the day.
The price of green chilli remained unchanged and it was selling at Tk 60 a kg over the week.
Rohita was selling at Tk 200-Tk 300 a kg, katla at Tk 200-Tk 280 a kg, pangas at Tk 120-Tk 170 a kg and tilapia at Tk 110-Tk 180 a kg, depending on their size and quality.
Sugar price remained unchanged and it was selling at Tk 44-Tk 47 a kg on Friday.
The price of broiler remained high and the item as selling at Tk 145-Tk 155 a kg while mutton was selling at Tk 480-Tk 500 a kg on the day.
Beef price remained unchanged and it was selling at Tk 300 a kg on Friday.
The price of red lentil imported from Turkey and Canada was selling at Tk 90 a kg on Friday. The fine variety of red lentil was selling at Tk 125 a kg while its local variety was selling at Tk 120 a kg.
The price of egg remained unchanged and it was selling at Tk 30 a hali (four pieces) over the week.
