Giving priority to the legal aid related cases is very important for speedy disposal in the greater interest of the distressed and poor justice-seeker litigants.
The judges, lawyers, police and others concerned should have to work together along with service- oriented zeal as the government is committed to provide legal aid services to the poor and distressed victims free of cost.
These observations were made in a post-rally discussion held at the conference hall of District Judge marking the ‘National Legal Aid Day’ in Rajshahi Sunday.
With Judge Enamul Haque of Special Tribunal against Women and Child Repression in the chair, additional chief judicial magistrate Emdadul Haque, judicial magistrate Rejaul Karim, public prosecutor Ibrahim Hossain and BLAST coordinator advocate Abdus Samad spoke on the occasion, among others.
The speakers said the role of panel lawyers towards legal aid should be more proactive to attain the cherished goal. To this end, they should be motivated about proper functioning of the legal aid activities.
Judge Enamul Haque viewed that the role of panel lawyers is very important towards successful implementation of the legal aid like noble work.
‘The lawyers create bridge between the judges and the justice-seekers and they contribute a lot to lessening sufferings of the victims,’ he said, adding the need for collective efforts of all quarters to ensure access to justice of the distressed and disadvantaged people.
