The information minister, Hasanul Huq Inu, on Wednesday said sustainable democracy could be ensured by protecting the rights of women and children of the country.
‘Country’s democracy could be made sustainable by protecting the rights of women and children,’ he said while speaking at a roundtable discussion titled ‘Participation of Media in Preventing Violence through Empowering Children and Women’ by Girl Power Project under Plan Bangladesh at hotel Ruposhi Bangla in the city.
‘We have been facing four categories of problems in our country for removing poverty, protecting environment, eliminating militancy and eradicating gender discrimination,’ the minister said.
Country director of Plan, Bangladesh Elena Ahmed, director general of Bangladesh Television M Hamid, Bangladesh National Women Lawyers’ Association president Salma Ali, editor of News Network Shahiduzzaman, actor and director Mamunur Rashid, executive director Aparajeo-Bangladesh Wahida Banu were also participated in the roundtable as discussants.
