Students and cultural activists on Thursday formed human chain in the Barisal city, protesting at growing incidents of sexual harassment and rape in the country.
Their other demands include speedy trial and execution of capital punishment for the rapists, rejecting bail prayers of the accused, restricting publication of photos and names of the victims, ensuring social security and overall responsibility of the victims by the state and taking propgrammes against sexual harassment and rape.
The human chain was formed in front of Ashwini Kumar Town Hall of the city, where AB Siddik, Nirjhar Acharya, Pritam Chowdhury, Antar Chakrabarty, Dipankar Kumar, Sharmin Ahmed Popy, Shammi Aktar Jui spoke among other students and cultural activists.
