Pry students mourn fellows’ death
Students of all primary schools on Monday mourned the death of seven of their fellows who died in a traffic accident at Chaugachha in Jessore.
The government on Sunday declared mourning in all primary schools for Monday after the seven schoolchildren – Ankhi, 10, Suriya, 8, Shanta, 6, Mithila, 7, Shahanara, 9, Sabbir, 8 and Aakil, 7 – died when the bus carrying them veered off the road and fell into a ditch. The accident left at least 70 wounded. They were students of Gazipur Government Primary School near the Benapole border.
Students of all primary schools across the country held special prayer session during regular assembly, said a primary and mass education ministry statement on Monday.
The minister for primary and mass education, Mostafizur Rahman, attended the special prayer session at the Mothijheel Ideal Government Primary School.
Mostafizur Rahman emphasised that the drivers should be given proper training so that they become very careful when driving a vehicle which can save the lives of many.
