Bangladesh Bank on Tuesday requested 39 private and foreign commercial banks to extend relief activities for the flood affected people by using their corporate social responsibility (CSR) fund. The central bank issued separate letters to the managing directors and chief executive officers of the 39 banks asking them to submit report by September 11 to the BB on what type of measures they would take to help the
flood affected people.
A BB official told New Age on Tuesday that the central bank had not asked the eight state-owned commercial and specialised banks and the nine new banks to conduct relief activities.
The ministry of finance recently asked four state-owned banks not to conduct any CSR activities due to their financial scams.
