Dhaka University on Wednesday observed the 32nd death anniversary of national professor Qazi Motahar Hossain. The university’s statistics, biostatistics and informatics department and Qazi Motahar Hossain Foundation held a commemorative speech, scholarship and award ceremony to mark the day at the Teacher-Student Centre. Two statistics, biostatistics and informatics students were also awarded Qazi Motahar Hossain Medal and Scholarship for their outstanding results in both BSc-2011 and MSc-2012 examination.
The recipients are Khandokar Akib Mohammad in bachelor degree and Farzana Afroz in master’s degree. Essay-writer Kanchon Kumar Sen was awarded for his first position in the essay competition on Qazi Motahar Hossain.
Qazi Motahar Hossain Foundation president Sanzida Khatun chaired the occasion, also addressed, among others, by DU vice-chancellor AAMS Arefin Siddique, the department chairperson Khaleda Banu and the foundation general secretary Qazi Rawnak Hossain.
Former University Grants Commission member KM Mohshin, also former arts faculty dean, delivered a commemorative lecture on ‘Qazi Motahar Hossain Manosh’.
