Rapid Action Battalion rescued two people and arrested seven alleged kidnappers in separate drives in city’s West Rampura and Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on Tuesday.
A man was rescued and three alleged kidnappers were arrested by a RAB team from the city’s West Rampua. The RAB-3 team, led by Major Ahmed Hossain Mohiuddin, raided 267/2, West Rampura and rescued Akbar Hossain and arrested three alleged abductors — Mominul Islam Shagor, Anwar Hossain and Mozzamel Hossain.
Major Mohiuddin told New Age that Akbar Hossain, a businessman, was abducted from Khulna on July 29 when he was heading for the capital.
The kidnapers demanded Tk 10 lakh from his family. Family members had already transferred Tk 4,98,000 to one of the kidnappers’ account.
Later, family members of Akbar Hossain complained to RAB. On information, RAB raided a house at West Rampura and arrested the three abductors early Tuesday.
At Sher-e-Bangla Nagar, a RAB-2 team, led by Major Raqibul Ameen, raided Tejgaon College and rescued a courier service worker Lutfur Jaman and arrested four alleged abductors from the college compound.
The arrested are Monir Hossain, Shakil Ahmed Munna, Shakil Khan and Md Ariful Islam.
