The Bangladesh Railway and the Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation are going to launch special services for the coming Eid-ul-Fitr, officials have said.
A senior railway officer told New Age on Wednesday that about seven-pair special inter-city trains would run during Eid holidays on different routes including the Dhaka-Chittagong route.
These trains will ply the routes three days before and after Eid, he said.
The official said more than a hundred compartments would be added to the existing trains.
About 25 per cent of the advance tickets will be available online, he added.
BR is scheduled to
start selling advance tickets between July 26 and July 30.
Advance train tickets will be sold on July 26 for journey on August 4, on July 27 for August 5, on July 28 for August 6, on July 29 for August 7 and on July 30 for August 8.
It will also sell advance return tickets for some routes between August 2 and August 6.
Meanwhile the BRTC operation department officials said the corporation’s Eid special service would start on August 4 which would continue till three days after Eid.
About 1,000 buses will be engaged in the service and the fare would remain as usual.
A sub-control room will start working on August 4 for maintaining the service at the BRTC Motijheel depot.
BRTC officials also confirmed New Age that they would start selling advance tickets on August 1 for its Eid service which would be available in its Motijheel, Zoarshara, Kalyanpur, Double-Decker depots in Dhaka and CBS (Phulbaria) depots.
The service will start on August 4 and will continue till three days after Eid.
