Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha on Tuesday extended the deadline by three months and a half more for applications of plots in Uttara and Purbachal projects.
‘The authorities have decided to extend the deadline for form collection and submission up to April 30,’ said Rajuk’s member (estate) Sukumer Chandra Saha.
He, however, did not cite any specific reason for the second time extension to the deadline.
The city development authorities in November 2008 advertised the plots and initially set December 18 as the deadline for applications, but extended it till January 15 amid allegation that the army-controlled interim government was in a hurry to complete the allotment during its tenure.
‘Extension to the timeline will definitely help the aspirants at home and abroad to apply smoothly as the process is lengthy,’ Rajuk’s member said.
He said enough time was required to complete the process as the applicants needed to enclose salary statement, tax identification number, income tax return certificate, photocopy of the national identity card, an affidavit and a bank draft or pay order with the application form.
Another source in Rajuk said the decision on the extension to the deadline was made at the instruction of the new government.
Rajuk invited applications for the Purbachal New Town Project having about 7,000 plots and Uttara’s third phase project having about 1,500 plots.
The authorities plan to distribute the plots among applicants of 14 categories, each having certain percentage, officials said, adding the lottery would be completed within a maximum of 60 days after the application deadline.
Unsuccessful applicants will be asked to withdraw their deposit within 30 days after the announcement of the lottery results.
