The Bangladesh Sports Press Association on Saturday remembered its senior member and former secretary of cultural affair ministry Ranajit Kumar Biswas, who breathed his last on June 23.
Speakers at the commemorative meeting, held at the Bangladesh Olympic Association auditorium, recalled his enormous contribution in evolving sports writing in Bangladesh and hailed him for his human attributes.
Vice-chancellor of Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University Mohit Ul Alam, who is also a childhood friend of late Biswas, admired the writer for his extensive knowledge about world cricket.
BSPA senior member and poet Sanaul Haque dubbed Biswas as the Wisden of Bangladesh for his vast knowledge about country’s cricket.
Former cricketer and cricket writer Jalal Ahmed Chowdhury said Biswas became immortal for his good taste, creativity and integrity.
Biswas’ wife Shely Sengupta, only daughter Upama Biswas, childhood friends Nurussafa Chowdhury, author Sahabuddin Nagri, former national captain Roquibul Hasan spoke among others on the occasion.
