A team of Chittagong Divisional Forest and Animal Preservation Department recovered at least 21 different species of birds and one mongoose here on Wednesday.
Among them, three were common parrots, two Black Maynaes, 13 munias, one White Parrot, two Yellow Parrots and a mongoose.
Chittagong Divisional Forest Officer Mozammel Hoque Shah Chowdhury said acting on a tip off, they went in front of St Plasid High School of Pathorghata area and recovered the birds. But the seller managed to escape, he added.
Among the birds, White Parrot and Yellow Parrot are very rare species with market prices well above ten thousand each, he said.
“We will send these creatures to Bangabandhu Safari Park tomorrow (Friday),” he added.
