Jatiya Party leader Raushan Ershad has made a passionate plea to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to hold talks with leaders of different political parties for reaching a national consensus. “A national consensus must be reached following discussions among various parties for resolving the present political stalemate in the country,” she told the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday while participating in the budget discussion. The Jatiya Party leader repeatedly appealed to the prime minister to use her leverage as the head of the government and the “daughter of Bangabandhu” to overcome the current political crisis after talking to everybody if necessary.
“You are not just the prime minister of our country, you are the daughter of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. Being the daughter of such a great man, you are in a unique position to resolve the present political standoff; and I am sure you can do it,” she said.
The Jatiya Party leader narrated the Jatiya Sangsad her personal meeting with the father of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and said the late leader used to love the people of Bangladesh beyond any measure and always solved all problems of the country at ease.
“Like your father, I am fully confident, you also can solve any crisis or political situation facing the nation,” she said adding: “You are the prime minister of the country; you must be able to resolve the political crisis the nation is passing through now.”
Raushan Ershad said the politics of retribution must be brought to an end once and for all in Bangladesh. The ruling and opposition parties must sit together and reach an understanding on all fundamental issues in the greater interest of the nation.
The Jatiya Party leader also took a swipe at those lawmakers of the ruling and opposition parties who attack against each other in harsh language in the parliament instead of using their valuable time on constructive suggestions and other parliamentary issues.
