More than 400 participants, including about a hundred renowned academics and experts from across the world, will join the first ever South Asia Regional Conference on ‘early childhood development’ beginning in Dhaka today.
The primary and mass education minister, Md Afsarul Ameen, will inaugurate the meet to be participated by experts from SAARC and Asia Pacific countries as well as the UK, the USA, Switzerland, Australia and Canada.
Themed ‘Learning, Networking and Coalition Building for Early Childhood Development’, the meet at the Bagabandhu International Conference Centre is being jointly hosted by the Bangladesh ECD Network and the Asia Pacific Regional Network for Early Childhood.
The participants will share experiences and enhance the knowledge and understanding of ECD policies, programmes, models, curriculum, and strategies within the South Asian region, said a press release on Monday.
Women and children affairs minister Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury will be the chief guest at the closing of the conference.
Presenters from South Asian Countries will share research results and practical experiences while six keynote presentations will be made by world renowned ECD experts in the plenary sessions of the conference.
