Relatives of patients attacked a private healthcare facility Thursday night in Sylhet city after the hospital security men wounded three of the visitors.
Being informed, the Jalalabad police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control after detaining the hospital’s security in-charge, sources in the police said.
The injured were admitted to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
Witnesses said the security personnel of Ragib-Rabeya Medical College Hospital were locked in an altercation with Aziz Khan Sajib, a student of Sylhet International University, at around 7:00pm when he wanted to visit his relative at the hospital.
At one stage, the on-duty security men attacked Sajib and beat him up, they said.
Several other visitors came forward and tried to calm the situation when the security men also attacked them, they said.
The security persons left Sakib and Raju seriously injured, the sources said.
Local people also joined the protestors and attacked the hospital.
Informed, a Jalalabad police team rushed to the spot around 8:30pm and took the situation in control after detaining the hospital’s security in-charge Rafiqul Islam, police said.
Jalalabad police officer-in-charge Jamal Uddin told new Age that no case was filed in this regard still Friday afternoon.
Being contacted over phone, RRMC director Nazmul Islam declined to make any comment in this regard.
‘We are in a meeting with the local elites right now to settle the issue,’ he added.
