A restaurant on Satmasjid Road in the city caught fire on Saturday morning. Nilufar Yasmin, a duty officer at fire service, said that the fire broke out on the ground floor of the two-storey building of the restaurant, Golden Spoon, near Graphic Arts College of Satmasjid Road at around 11:45am.
Three fire fighting units from Mohammadpur fire service station rushed the spot and put out the blaze at around 12:25pm, she said.
The cause of the fire could not be ascertained. No casualties were reported.
The restaurant manager Swapan Sarker said that short-circuit might have cause the fire that burnt the second floor of the restaurant and a part of the ground floor.
