Results of combined admission test for 61 public and private medical colleges across the country for the session 2010-11 have been published yesterday.
The results were posted on the website (http://www.dghs.gov.bd/).
Candidates with a mobile phone connection can find their results by typing MISdghs < space > college code < space > registration number, and sending the SMS to 9934. The admission test was held in 20 centres in 15 districts under the same question paper on Friday.
A total of 43,644 candidates vied for 2509 seats in 18 public medical colleges and 3550 seats in 43 private medical colleges this year.
In all public medical colleges, some 20 seats are reserved for indigenous students, 80 for foreign students and 114 seats for freedom fighters’ children.
Among the public medical colleges, 50 students will be admitted to Jessore Medical College for the first time.
The admission process would be completed by the end of November.
Earlier on Friday, The Health Minister A F M Ruhal Haque told reporters that the government had decided to launch online admission applications to Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from next year.
Meanwhile, to accommodate more students in medical education, the government has given permission to open six new private medical colleges including one ‘dental’ and three homeopathic colleges in the city.
The decision has been made in the meeting of the Committee on Medical Education under the Ministry of Health yesterday.
The newly permitted medical colleges are MH Sharamita Medical College, Popular Medical College, Mendi Dental College, Potuakhali Homeopathic Medical College, Borgona Homeopathic Medical College and Chapainobabganj Rahanpur Homeopathic Medical College.
