Human rights activists formed a human chain in Sylhet on Sunday afternoon, demanding immediate steps to end violence against the ethnic minority groups in the country.
Human Rights Congress for Bangladesh Minority Sylhet unit formed the human chain in front of the city’s Central Shaheed Minar in Chowhatta area.Speakers in a rally held after the human chain programme alleged that a group was running the attacks on the minority communities in a planned way to make the law and order situation worsen.
HRCBM Sylhet unit coordinator Rakesh Roy chaired the rally, which was addressed, among others, by the unit vice-chairman Nitish Sutradhar, joint general secretary Manindra Ranjan Dey, human rights activist Madhuri Gun, Shitil Das Jiban, Suman Ranjan Dash, Swapan Modak, Mily Begum, Shamima Begum and Salma Aktar.
